Instructions

Rover One is a build-it-yourself robot kit that actually does something.

Once assembled, your rover drives forward on its own, detects obstacles with an ultrasonic sensor, sweeps its servo-powered head left and right to find the clearest path, and redirects itself, all running on code you upload yourself from a laptop.

What you'll learn

Building Rover One introduces real skills used by engineers and makers worldwide: How motors are controlled, how sensors read the world, how code tells hardware what to do, and how all of it comes together in a system that moves and thinks on its own. Every component has a purpose, and by the time you're done, you'll fully understand how they interact.

Who it's for

Rover One is designed for builders aged 10 and up, parents who want to build something real with their kids, and teachers running robotics clubs or STEM programs looking for an affordable educational project. No soldering or prior experience needed!

What's in the box

Everything you need to build a fully working rover: An Arduino microcontroller, motor driver shield, four DC geared motors and wheels, servo motor, ultrasonic sensor, chassis pieces, all wiring, battery pack, batteries, screwdriver, printed instructions, and a step-by-step video build guide accessible via QR code.

Estimated build time:

Approximately 1-2 hours, depending on prior experience and debugging time, if any.

**FAQ**

Q: Does it require soldering?

A; Nope! Every connection in Rover One is made with plug-in wires and screw terminals to lower the skill barrier. No soldering iron needed, ever.

Q: What age is this for?

A: Rover One is designed for ages 10 and up, particularly middle and high schoolers. Younger kids can absolutely build it with a parent’s help - It's a great shared project. Older solo builders have found it engaging as well!

Q: Does it come with batteries?

A: Yes, we include batteries with every kit for your convenience. Everything in the box is everything you need.

Q: What tools do I need?

A: A small screwdriver is included with every kit, and a pair of scissors also comes in handy for the adhesive strips.

Q: Can I modify the code?

A: Absolutely, and we actually encourage it. The full code is in your build guide, but this is just an explained baseline. Changing the obstacle detection distance, the turn speed, or adding new behaviors are great first coding experiments.

Q: What skill level is this for?

A: Complete beginner. We wrote the guide assuming you have never touched electronics before. If you have experience, you'll move faster, but no experience is assumed or required!

Q: Is this suitable for a school robotics club?

A: Yes! Rover One was designed with exactly this use case in mind. Each kit is self-contained, the guide is written for independent builders, and the price point makes it realistic for educators to equip a full class. Contact us for discounted bulk pricing at [email].

Q: What if I get stuck?

A: Every common issue has a dedicated troubleshooting section in the build guide. It's completely normal to need adjustments for your experience, so if you're still stuck, email us directly for assistance!
